Absent in many hectic 21st century lives is a place to lift spirits, to build genuine relationships, and to experience life with our family, neighbors and friends.  People need a place where everyone can simply “unplug”, even as they connect.  They need kinship and cooperation in the pursuit of nurturing, educational and fulfilling opportunities.  They need community. Studies have found that effectiveness of mentoring and preventative programs improves outcomes across behavioral, social, emotional, and academic domains of young people's development. The most common pattern of benefits is for mentored youth to exhibit positive gains on outcome measures while non-mentored youth exhibit declines. By introducing youth to new experiences and sharing positive values, mentors have been proven to help young people avoid negative behaviors and achieve success. Building Futures Incorporated is committed to empowering underserved and at-risk youth with the resources and support necessary to live healthy and sustainable lives. 

Our mission is to enrich, educate and empower underserved youth to become successful leaders of tomorrow, by providing professional development and life enrichment services today with our mobile mentoring program, the Mission I’M-Possible Leadership Academy. Studies have also shown that youth who are involved in mentorships, are more likely to enroll in higher education, have better engagement in school, increased social and emotional development, and improved self-esteem.

Our organization offers mobile mentoring services to the youth by providing a local safe space in your community, meaning, we come to YOU!  No longer are the days of being inconvenienced or worrying about travel plans to access our program because it's too far!  We have implemented a comprehensive program for K-12th grade students through our outreach initiatives. 

Our curriculum is tailored for each grade level or group and can be revised to fit specific demographic needs. 

We offer free & fee based services. Our services are offered independently or through your local school district, foster care agency, group home or community organization. 8-12 week sessions are held year-round.   Single sessions are available for purchase, although, not recommended.

The Mission I'M-Possible Leadership Academy is a leadership enrichment program designed to mentor, engage, educate and empower mentees of all ages in various activities that develop their social-emotional and professional skills through quantifiable resources.  This program is an excellent way for mentees to learn effective communication, personal development, life skills and leadership skills that can be utilized to become successful adults. 

A true leader does not just direct; they in fact help develop their people and show them how by using the 4 “E’s” of leadership. True leaders, “ENVISION, ENERGIZE, ENABLE & EMPOWER”. Through this leadership academy, our mentees will learn how to cope with some of the pressures of life by cultivating new ideas on how to rise above them. They will gain a deeper understanding of self-acceptance and what we can do to empower ourselves and one another and develop effective and applicable personal and professional skills. 

Mentees will learn about self-advocacy, civic engagement & leadership by participating in discussions & activities on Cultural Diversity, Social Policy, Technology, Social Media, Mental Health, Emotional Intelligence (Self-Awareness, Self-Love, Self-Esteem, Self-Respect,  Relationship & Stress Management), Peer Pressure, Bullying, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Personal Responsibility, Accountability, Healthy Lifestyles, Etiquette, Academic Proficiency, Higher Education, Career Development, & Exploration, Financial Literacy, S.T.EA.M., Project Based Learning & Group Economics, CTE Pathway Prep and Job Readiness, Book Club, Public Speaking, 

S.M.A.R.T. Goal Setting (Specific*Measurable*Attainable*Relevant*Timely),  Substance Abuse & Prevention, Gang Intervention, Philanthropy, and much more. 

Field trips, domestic/international service trips, and weekend retreats will resume when permissible. Mentees will also hold annual elections for a position on the Youth Council Leadership Team.

Through hands-on participation, mentees will gain reasons to feel positive about themselves. The Mission I'M-Possible Leadership Academy will not only empower students to reach for the stars, never give up and realize they are Possible, but help illuminate a self-discovery of purpose filled talents, passion and vision for a successful future.     

Other Components of the Mission I'M-POSSIBLE Leadership Academy: 

1.  Financial Leaders  - This workshop series teaches the fundamentals of economics and financial management. Mentees will learn how to plan, direct, monitor, organize and control their monetary resources. They will participate in financial activities to learn the importance of acquiring and maintaining A1 credit, economics, money management, investing & balancing portfolios, etc. Mentees will also be required to complete a *MANDATORY ECONOMIC PROJECT*.  

2.  S.T.E.P.S. - Solutions To Effectively Promote Success - This prevention program offers online and mobile tutoring services in most subjects geared towards elementary - high school aged scholars, teaching them the necessary problem solving skills to de-escalate and prevent any issues that may cause for academic setbacks, hence reducing dropout rates and improving academic performance and proficiency. ​

3.  Community Outreach Service Projects - The purpose of community service is to encourage our mentees to embrace the importance of social responsibility. Mentees will understand the importance of giving back through various activities and leave a positive impact throughout their local community and around the world. Our community outreach component will provide opportunities for students to lead service projects and volunteer in their community, while building good character traits and receiving community service credit.  

4. The Mission I'M-POSSIBLE Extension Program: A.C.T.I.V.E. (Advancement for children through improvisation, vocalization & education)​​ - This is a great opportunity for boys and girls to participate in our day camp throughout the summer season, using performing arts, imagination and innovation to express their inner “I AM”. A.C.T.I.V.E. will also provide cultivating exposure and expression to students in the form of dance, theater, s.t.e.a.m. and entrepreneurship. This is a 8 week day camp designed for fun, building friendships, empowerment and learning. Boys and girls from all over the Los Angeles metro area will participate in fun and educational based activities that promote critical-thinking, problem solving skills, empowerment, self-esteem, self-respect, leadership and life skills.
