“Hi Ms Green, my name is Aliyah A. and I am a part of your Phenomenal Women academy. I am honored to be a part of this empowering group. I am thrilled about this positive sisterhood and its growth. I want to be a part of the leadership program and to run for president. I know it’s a big job but I believe I am fully capable of being on time, assertive, present and empowering all while having fun and including everyone. I am proud to represent my culture and the idea of coming together and creating a strong affiliation.”
“Hi Ms. Green! My name is Calia H. and I was interested in running for the communications position for the club. I think the club is a necessity at our school and I would like to be able to get to know the girls more and be able to be a representative regarding leadership and member communication… I look forward to seeing this group expand and I am hoping I will have a significant role in it. Thank you in advance, Calia H.”
"Dear Ms. Green,
Thank you for helping me get back on track. The only reason I have ever been 100% motivated to better my future is because you were always like my second mom. Since my mom doesn't go to school with me (Thank the lord! Bless that lady but man she really brings out that NY attitude when I need it.) she can't always tell me to do what I NEED to do. If it wasn't her it was you. You motivated me to go and change my life. Honestly, if I didn't get in all that trouble with school I would have never met you. So in a way, I am so happy I did what I did because now I'm surrounded by people that actually care about if I do good in school or what I did today. So thank you for giving me the chance to meet new friends and pull myself together. Getting smarter every day.
Love,
David K."
"Good Afternoon Ms. Green, hope your day is going great. I just wanted to say I appreciate you very much for all the things you do for me and your advice and positive thinking. You are truly one of the reasons that made my sophomore year at Palisades. You do not know how happy I met you and did not meet you sooner. I truly miss you and can not wait to see you again. I passed all my standards !!!" Chikezie E.
"Dear Kia:
I heard about the amazing acts of kindness you did for many of our Westside Y members and guests - preparing holiday care packages - that's such a kind and generous gift and I'm positive that each person was so thankful and appreciative. But I know you didn't do it for the "thanks" but because you wanted to brighten their day and make them feel special and cared for as individuals and citizens and our neighbors - way to go Kia and thank you for reaching out to deserving members of our community - you're just the kind of person the Y does its best work with a big heart and loving soul! God bless you Kia!" Alan Hostrup
"Hi Kia,
Thank you so much for the hard work you put into the backpack give away event to donate backpacks to the kids at our Growing Young Minds program at Hoover Elementary. The backpacks were filled with supplies for the school year. The smiles on those kids' faces were priceless and something I will always remember. Many parents cried when they picked up their kids because of the act of kindness that was shown to them. We really appreciate it, all the children were happy, as soon as they saw their parents it was the first thing they showed them. I had two moms cry when they saw the backpacks and the principal at the school was really impressed." Jose Rivera
"I worked with Kia Green in her capacity in partnership with Palisades Alliance for Seniors. Together, we developed a technology tutoring program that brought together tech-savvy students needing community service hours and senior citizens looking to become more conversant with their tech devices.
I found Kia responsible, creative, a good teammate, and a pleasure to work with. She has high standards: It’s important to her that the programs she produces are successful, and she’s not going to leave that to chance. For example, from when we first started fleshing out the program, Kia was clear that she did not want the seniors walking in the cold. She proposed that each senior signing up be asked to fill out a survey detailing their skills and concerns, so that she’d be able to match them in advance with the appropriate student. When she had the surveys in hand, she spent a weekend of her own time figuring out how best to organize and match them with the students, and putting together a long chart capturing all the information.
Kia maintains a good balance between taking the initiative and respecting others’ ideas. She made sure that the students attended a training session before the program began, but she deferred to me in developing the training tool and delivering it. I have also appreciated her flexibility as we’ve tweaked the program format, and her openness to continued adaptations in response to survey results.
Finally, I should note that Kia’s professionalism is matched by her enthusiasm for youth empowerment and a better world. Working together on this project that was personally important to me, I was moved to see that it was also close to Kia’s heart.”

"Ms. Green has worked with me as an instructor for one of my young adult programs, Smart Beginnings/ Easy Preventions, where she provided very important personal development and leadership tools to a group of young inner city parents. She has displayed a high degree of integrity, responsibility, and ambition. Ms. Green also has an excellent rapport with people of all ages. Her direct communication skills (both written and verbal) allow her to connect with all kinds of people.
In addition to her excellent personal accomplishments, she is definitely a leader who thinks outside of the box to produce effective results. Ms. Green is efficient, well-versed in her craft, extremely competent, compassionate and well organized. Her good judgment and mature outlook on life ensures a logical and practical approach to her endeavors. She is kind, thoughtful, asks good questions, listens and responds well to whatever group she is leading. I am happy to give her my wholehearted endorsement. " Michelle Leclaire O’Neill
